FAQs

Have a question? Hopefully your answer is below, if not just send us an enquiry via our contact page.

How do I prepare a fish that I have caught, ready for Gyotaku?

In short, one side of the fish needs to be kept in perfect, in tact condition. To bleed your fish, do this via the gills on one side without cutting completely through the neck. Wrap your fish in cling film or an old sheet and keep it flat, on ice NOT submerged in water. Contact Ado on 0419 047 404 asap to organise drop off or if you need any further direction.

Can I still eat my fish after it has been printed?

Absolutely! Provided you live locally (or are prepared to come and collect) we can get your fish back to you ready for filleting and eating. We keep the fish on ice as long as possible while we set up to print. We then print in a cool room as quickly as possible using non toxic, water based inks. Once we are done printing, we rinse the fish and put it back on ice.

I live a long way from Dunsborough WA, can I still get my trophy fish printed?

You sure can. We have had a number of clients send their fish to us for printing. Just give Ado a call on 0419 047 404 to discuss the logistics and if we can make this work for you.

Do you hold Gyotaku Workshops?

Yes we do. Keep an eye on our social media for any upcoming workshops.
